Holiday decorations and Christmas tree

Venice Holiday Parade 2026 promises an especially memorable celebration this Thanksgiving weekend. The 50th annual parade takes place Saturday, November 28, beginning at 6:30pm, with festive floats, community groups, and holiday entertainment filling the streets of historic downtown Venice.

This year’s theme, Golden Traditions, honors three significant anniversaries: 50 years of the Venice Holiday Parade, the City of Venice’s 100th birthday, and America’s 250th anniversary. Organizers are inviting participants to celebrate the traditions and memories that have made this annual event a favorite for generations.

Adding to the occasion, the parade’s Grand Marshal will be Old Betsy, Venice’s historic first fire truck, which is also celebrating its 100th birthday! For guests at Banyan House vacation rentals, the festivities are just a short distance away, making Thanksgiving weekend an excellent time to experience Venice’s community spirit.

The parade begins at the intersection of West Venice Avenue and Avenue des Parques, near City Hall. From there, the approximately one-mile route travels east along Venice Avenue, turns south onto Nokomis Avenue, and finishes near the Venice Community Center.

Spectators can watch from designated areas along West Venice Avenue, Nokomis Avenue, and Turin Street. Two announcing stages, located at Harbor Drive and Venice Avenue and at Nokomis Avenue and Venice Avenue, will introduce participating groups as they pass.

Before the main event, the Elf Dash fun run begins at 5:45pm, sending costumed participants along a 0.9-mile course. Downtown activities are scheduled to begin as early as 3pm.

Old Betsy’s appearance as Grand Marshal brings a particularly fitting historical touch. The 1926 fire engine served Venice for decades and remains a cherished symbol of the city’s early years. You can learn more about its remarkable history in our recent article about the Old Betsy Museum.

The holiday festivities begin the evening before the parade with the Mayor’s Hometown Christmas on Friday, November 27, from 5pm to 7pm at Centennial Park.

This free celebration includes the downtown Christmas tree lighting, performances by local choirs, including The Venice Chorale, and a visit from Santa. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of holiday music before Saturday’s parade.

Visitors should also plan ahead for parade-day traffic. Downtown road closures begin at 2pm on Saturday, and parking near the parade route may be limited. Check the city’s official parade website for designated viewing areas, parking information, and the latest updates.
